Celebrating the Calçadas Portuguesas of Lagos Portugal

Portuguese calçadas, or pavements, have become part of Portugal’s identity and culture.

Beginning first in Lisbon and then appearing in other parts of Portugal and its territories.

They adorn many of the outdoor public spaces and add a unique charm and character, often paying homage to the country’s maritime heritage and fishing industry.

I love walking around Lagos and seeing how life takes place with those calçadas as a backdrop. They always make me feel welcomed and look like they are inviting me in to explore what the town has to offer
